Design History Network / Netzwerk Designgeschichte
The association Netzwerk Designgeschichte NDG (Eng. Design History Network) is a platform that connects people interested in design history within Switzerland, both from theory and practice, and facilitates exchanges among them. The aim of the association NDG is to promote the awareness, research and mediation of design history in Switzerland. This includes a broad spectrum of design-historically oriented disciplines from both established and newly emerging fields such as the history of graphic, product, industrial, textile, fashion, jewellery, interaction and game design, and illustration amongst others.
Annual topic: Collecting
Many of us collect, albeit with different standards and objectives. Since design rarely comes out of the blue, many designers consider collecting as part of their research. What does collecting have to do with design? How have different practices of collecting shaped the design discipline? And especially in Corona times: How does digitalisation affects the way of collecting and mediating collections in institutions worldwide? Please send us interesting examples that we can compile and comment on. We will make this information, as well as the invitation to studio visits, analogue and digital discussion formats, exclusively available to our members.

«Memory full?» DHS Annual Conference 2020: postponed
The current situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic is posing severe challenges to the organisation of the DHS annual conference in Basel. The policy of the university aligns with that of the DHS chair. The Convenor Team has joined the global efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus and to limit the damage it has already caused. After discussing possible risks due to Covid-19 pandemic, and current uncertainty about its development, the Convenor Team and DHS Chair agreed to postpone the conference to September 2-4, 2021.
